STOCKS/ECONOMY
-Stock futures are higher after Monday's 972-point loss for the Dow, similar 2.4 percent selloff for the S&P 500, and a 2.6 percent drop for the Nasdaq. The wave of important Big Tech earnings reports begins today.
-The yield on the 10-year Treasury bond is at 4.40 percent.
-Gold is up another 1 percent to another all-time high of $3,468 per ounce. Bitcoin is up to the $88,700 level.
-Asian markets closed mixed today. The Hang Seng gained 0.8 percent, the Nikkei lost 0.2 percent, and the Shenzhen lost 0.4 percent.
OIL/ENERGY
-U.S. crude prices are up and at the $63 a barrel level.
-Gasoline prices are up to $3.16 a gallon, national average.
WEAPONS WIN
-Lockheed Martin (LMT) reported better than expected quarterly profits on persistent defense demand globally. Its shares are up 3 percent in the premarket.
AMAZON PULL BACK?
-Amazon (AMZN) is reportedly cutting back on plans to build or expand data centers, especially those located outside of the U.S. But the company has not confirmed those reports. Amazon shares are up 1 percent in the premarket.
OTHER KEY EARNINGS
-3M (MMM) reported better than expected quarterly profits and revenues. Its shares are up 7 percent in the premarket.
-Verizon (VZ) reported better than expected quarterly profits and revenues, but also said that it lost more subscribers than expected. Its shares are down 6 percent in the premarket.
-GE Aerospace (GE) reported better than expected quarterly profit, but missed revenue estimates. Its shares are still up 4 percent in the premarket.
-Zions Bancorp (ZION) reported weaker than expected quarterly profits. Its shares are down 5 percent in the premarket.
PHARMA
-Swiss drug company Roche is investing $50 billion in the U.S. over the next five years, partly to avoid tariff issues. Its shares are down 2 percent in European market trading today.
