Gaza is gone for all intents and purposes. Yet Trump wants to bring a plan forward to make Gaza a place that can be restored and built for the citizens where development and an economy is possible. It is not as far-fetched as it sounds. There are natural gas reserves offshore Gaza to the tune of over 1 Trillion c/f. An Agreement was executed by Egypt, Hamas and Israel in August 2023 to begin the development of the Gaza Marine Project with TotalEnergies. Of course, the deal went south after October 7, 2023 when Hamas attached Israel.

But, now that Hamas will either be taken out of the region by force or other means, the countries in the Middle East may look at the project to secure additional natural gas reserves to their countries and this is the way to do it. TotalEnergies already moved an offshore platform off the Lebanese coast in September and it is clear Egypt is already on board with the Gaza deal. Bringing in other nations, such as Turkey, Jordon and Saudi Arabia gives them energy security with additional supplies and a motivation to assist in reconstruction along with a continuing stabilization of the Middle East.
