Leading Story Lines
-Both teams are coming off disappointing losses, a bit more so for Georgetown which was actually favored in the games vs. Brown only to be drubbed by 46-0. Columbia was a slight underdog vs. Lafayette, but lost due to its worst defensive performance in at least two years.
-Columbia will be unveiling its 2024 Ivy championship banner before the game, an event a large number of lifelong CU fans thought they’d never see. But with that success comes the added pressure for the Lions to succeed this year and beyond.
-A major question before kickoff is whether Georgetown’s regular starting QB Danny Lauter will be playing in the game after missing the entire contest vs. Brown with an injury. Columbia has been prepping for this game with the belief that Lauter will be playing.
3 Lions to Watch
-5th year senior DE J.T. Townsend #36 had a quiet game last week in his return to the field after going down with an injury in week 3 last year. He will be itching to make an impact in this game.
-Freshman RB Michael Walters #24 had a great debut against Lafayette, but may still have to fight for carries behind junior Griffin Johnson and senior Lucas Bullock.
-Sophomore CB Carter McCray #3 will be tasked with shutting down Georgetown’s biggest offensive weapons, WR Jimmy Kibble #13.
3 Hoyas to Watch
-Senior QB’ Danny Lauter #15 or senior QB Dez Thomas II #10 will start the game, but if Lauter is healthy, Thomas will still play a bit as he is more of a running threat.
-Junior DL Cooper Blomstrom #58 is Georgetown’s leading pass rusher and can make key plays.
-Sophomore RB Savion Hart #28 has been running well and is averaging over six yards a carry
